Battle of the Books is an the annual book trivia tournament run by the Westchester Library System. Every library has its own teams and we’re looking for kids in grades 3-11 to represent Dobbs Ferry!

If you’re interested in joining and able to dedicate all of Saturday, October 26th, to the tournament, please email teens@dobbsferrylibrary.org or childrens@dobbsferrylibrary.org to get the Zoom link! We will be discussing the tournament format, the books everyone will be reading, permission slips, and more.

Join us for a once-a-month kids’ book club! We read a new book every month, then meet discuss our thoughts and do a trivia battle against each other! This month, we will be reading The Swifts: A Dictionary of Scoundrels by Beth Lincoln

Place a hold so it’s ready to pick up when you come in! Registration is REQUIRED – please email childrens@dobbsferrylibrary.org, call (914) 693-6615 or stop by the Children’s Room to register.

On the day they are born, every Swift child is brought before the sacred Family Dictionary. They are given a name, and a definition. A definition it is assumed they will grow up to match.

Two Ways to Participate:
Track the Time You Spend Reading This Summer
1. Use our online log at ReadSquared to set a goal for yourself and earn prizes!
2. Sign up for an account at https://dobbsny03.readsquared.com/
3. Set a goal for how much you’d like to read. The minimum goal is 5 hours over the course of the summer.
4. Read! For every minute you read and log, you get 1 point.
5. (optional) Attend programs! For every program you attend and log, you get 75 points. See our calendar for the full list of programs.
6. For every 10% of your goal that you reach, you get a prize from the treasure chest! Readers who complete their goal will get a free book from our book sale at the end of the summer.
