Hybrid Program: Writing the World: Ekphrastic in Nature and Beyond

Hybrid Program: Writing the World: Ekphrastic in Nature and Beyond

Tuesday, April 22

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Celebrate National Poetry Month on Earth Day! Westchester County Poet Laureate Phylisha Villanueva will lead an educational and inspiring workshop of intergenerational storytelling and poetry.

Explore how poetry can translate virtual experiences — whether found in nature, art, or everyday life — into vivid, sensory-filled narratives.

Just as the earth offers endless inspiration through its landscapes, textures, and movements, ekphrastic poetry transforms what we see into deeply felt language. We’ll examine how poets bring the natural world to life, capturing its essence in ways that evoke emotion, reflection, and connection. Participants will learn to observe with intention, narrate moments of transformation, and craft poems that bridge the seen and unseen.

Join us this National Poetry Month as we celebrate the power of imagery and poetic interpretation, honoring the written word and the world it reflects.

This event will be held both in the Community Room and online.
