Stuffed Animal Field Trips – Ongoing from the Children’s Room

The library’s stuffed animals want to go on field trips! Check one out, bring them home, and add to their personal scrapbooks by writing about and taking pictures of the fun things you do together. When you’re at the library, you can visit the animals who have made it back to home base and see what they’ve been up to. Stuffed animals may be periodically rotated out based on condition.

Lunar New Year Celebration in the Community Room – All Ages

Join us to learn about the Lunar New Year as it’s celebrated in China, Korea, and other Asian countries. Local families will host individual tables and talk about their traditions, while volunteers lead us in group activities, like a storytime!

Meet the Author in the Periodicals Room: Poetry reading with Lily Greenberg and Tawanda Mulalu

Listen to local authors read from their newest books. This event: Lily Greenberg and Tawanda Mulalu.
Lily Greenberg is a poet from Nashville, Tennessee and the author of In the Shape of a Woman, published with Broadstone Books in 2022. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Iron Horse Literary Review, On the Seawall, Kissing Dynamite Poetry, About Place Journal, and LEON Literary Review, among others, and she is the 2021 recipient of the Dick Shea Memorial Prize for Poetry. Her work has been funded by Bread Loaf Writers, University of New Hampshire, and Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance. Lily holds an MFA from the University of New Hampshire and lives in New York where she works for Columbia University.
Tawanda Mulalu was born in Gaborone, Botswana, in 1997. His first book, Please make me pretty, I don’t want to die was selected by Susan Stewart for the Princeton Series of Contemporary Poets and is listed as a best poetry book of 2022 by The Boston Globe, The New York Times and The Washington Post. His chapbook Nearness was chosen as the winner of The New Delta Review 2020-21 Chapbook Contest, judged by Brandon Shimoda. Tawanda’s poems appear or are forthcoming in Brittle Paper, Lana Turner, Lolwe, The New England Review, The Paris Review, A Public Space and elsewhere. His writing has been supported by Brooklyn Poets, the Community of Writers, the New York State Summer Writers Institute and Tin House Books. Tawanda has also served as a Ledecky Fellow for Harvard Magazine and as the first Diversity and Inclusion Chair of The Harvard Advocate. He was recently awarded The Denver Quarterly’s 2022 Bin Ramke Prize for Poetry.
