Guidelines for Borrowing and Use of DFPL Roku Express

  • Borrower must be 18 years or older to check out a Roku
  • Have a Dobbs Ferry Public Library Card in good standing (Only DOB card holders may check out our Rokus)
  • Borrower is limited to no more than 2 checkouts per month
  • Borrower is limited to checking out one (1) Roku device at a time

What comes in a Roku Express kit?

  • 1 case
  • 1 Roku Express
  • 1 micro USB cable
  • 1 wall charger
  • 1 HDMI Cable
  • 1 Roku Remote

What streaming services are on the Roku Express kit?

Roku 1 – Disney+ and Hulu
Roku 2 – Disney+ and Hulu
Roku 3 – Netflix
Roku 4 – Netflix
Roku 5 – Max
Roku 6 – Max and BritBox

When placing a hold and/or checking out a Roku Express let the library staff member know which streaming service/kit you would like.

Where can I check out a Roku Express kit?

You can check out the Roku at the Circulation Desk.

Can I place a hold on a Roku Express?

Yes, you can place a hold  by calling the Circulation Desk at (914) 693-6614 for assistance.

One (1) hold may be placed on a Roku/library card at a time.

You may pick up your Roku Express on the day for which you reserved it;  customers have 2 days (48 hours) to check out the Roku before the hold is canceled.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I borrow a Roku Express kit?

You can borrow a Roku for two weeks (14 days).  Overdue charge for the Roku is $10 per day.

Where should I return a Roku Express kit?

A Roku kit must be returned in person to the DFPL circulation desk. Rokus may NOT be returned in a book drop or at any other library.

What if I return a Roku Express kit late or lose it?

Customers are responsible for costs associated with loss or damage of the Rokus and/or cords, adapters, cases, etc.

The overdue fine is $10 per day, with a maximum total of $50.  Rokus not returned after 5 days will be assumed-lost and charged the replacement cost of $70. Service on the streaming services will be turned off if the Roku Express is not returned on the due date.

If individual parts of the kit are lost or damaged, the following replacement costs will be the responsibility of the borrower.

  • Roku Express (If missing $70.00)
  • Charger cord replacement: $1
  • HDMI cord replacement: $1
  • Case replacement: $10
  • Wall plug adapter (if missing $1.00)
  • Remote Control (if missing $10.00)

If the entire Roku Express kit is lost or damaged, please contact the location where you checked it out immediately. The total kit replacement fee is $70.

Do I ever log out of the accounts on the Roku?

No, do not log out of any accounts

Can I download or login into my own account for a streaming app?

Yes, but the Library is not responsible for logging you out

The Library is not responsible for any content viewed on the streaming services. It is up to the person checking out the device to make sure anything viewed is suitable.
