FerryCon is the library’s all day, yearly Comic Con-style flagship event for all ages that takes place one Saturday every fall (formerly spring). Since 2019, FerryCon has brought over 300 participants to the library for fun-filled events including artists alley, classes, panels, and contests that revolved around comic books, graphic novels, super heroes, and more! 

 

Headlining Events
We’re so excited about our line-up for you this year! The following events will be in the Community Room unless otherwise noted.

    • 11am: Storytime with Spiderman (Ages 2-6)
    • 12pm:  Design in Animation: What It Is and How It’s Done with Gabriel Pinto (All Ages, best for Teens and Adults)
    • 1pm: Story Writing Skills with Bad Kitty (and Nick Bruel) (Families)
    • 2pm: Padawan Training with Empire Saber Guild  (Ages 5-12)
    • 3pm: How to Draw Anime with Paige Monte (ages 10-18)
    • 4pm: Splatter Talk: Horror Writing with Dobbs Ferry’s Luis Paredes and Archie Comics’ Jamie L. Rotante (Teens and Adults)
    • 4pm: Cosplay Contest with judge Harley Nox (library plaza)

Other Activities
In the other parts of the library, you can check out:

    • 12-3pm: Magic the Gathering Table (big table near the circulation desk)
    • 12:30-3:30pmPlay the tabletop roleplaying game Avatar Legends with New Kawaii! (sign up at their table beforehand, ages 10-18)
    • All Day: Visit our authors, artists, and more at Artists’ Alley all over the library!
    • All Day: Meet Star Wars characters from Rebel Legion (Echo Base) (all ages)
    • All Day: Jump into our KPop Video Party (teen area upstairs)
    • All Day: Contribute to the Community Coloring Page (all ages, location TBD)
    • All Day: Chalk the Walk (all ages, plaza)
    • All Day: Take a snapshot in the Superhero Photo Booth (location TBD)
    • All Day: Learn your future from our Palm Reader, Leslie Lambertson, and our Tarot Card Reader Shelley Standish (adults)
    • All Day: Pause the FerryCon chaos by visiting our sensory break area on the library terrace
    • All Day: Grab some lunch at the sandwich and snack table, provided by Scaperrotta’s Deli. 

Artist Alley
All around the library, visit the tables of local artists, businesses, and more!

    • Empire Saber Guild, not-for-profit costumed performance group of Star Wars enthusiast
    • Maker Hive, art and technology makerspace based Hastings-On-Hudson (make a badge or pin at this table!)
    • Leslie Lambertson, palm reader, and Shelley Standish, tarot card reader
    • Antonio Mastria, artist
    • Paige Monte, art teacher, animator, and storyboard illustrator
    • New Kawaii, games store based in Irvington (sign up for the Avatar Legends TTRPG at this table!)
    • Harley Nox, professional cosplayer and judge for our cosplay contest (which you can sign up for at her table!)
    • Luis Paredes, speculative fiction author
    • Picture Book NY, local bookstore, and Nick Bruel, author of Bad Kitty
    • Gabriel Pinto, artist and illustrator
    • Jamie L. Rotante, Senior Director at Archie Comic Publications, Inc.

Raffle
Enter our raffle to win one of two gift baskets containing prizes like a signed Bad Kitty book, a Pokemon planter, a horror novel, and more! Proceeds go to the Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library. $3 for 1 ticket or $5 for 2 tickets. Feel free to buy these ahead of time in the week leading up to the event, too.
