This month, we will be reading “The Outrun” by Amy Liptrot. Get the book at the Library!

Ages 8-18

Create a character! Fight monsters! Make your own luck! Develop your skills in this fantasy role-playing system with other kids just like you.

Each player will only attend once a week on either Wednesday or Thursday; your slot will be assigned by the library based on your availability, experience, and other factors. The club is spread across two days to accommodate as many members as possible and follows the Dobbs Ferry Schools calendar for vacations and days off. Please only sign up if you think you can attend most of the meetings.

Registration is required via this Google form. You are not registered until a librarian contacts you with confirmation and scheduling details. This program is full but you can still sign up for the waitlist.

This 3-week class led by Elyse Schreiber will cover basic ukulele skills including strumming, chords, and finger picking.

You should be able to attend all 3 sessions. Ukuleles are available to borrow with a valid Westchester Library Card.

This Week’s Craft – Fall Leaf Turkeys

Children read one-on-one with Buddy, a specially trained Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) and his handler, Dobbs Ferry resident Marty Kanengiser. Children will select a book to read to Buddy before the program begins, and they will spend 10-15 minutes reading aloud. They are also welcome to ask questions about Buddy, a 12-year-old rescued black lab who loves children, other dogs, and reading.

Join Perry Ground – Master Storyteller and Cultural Educator – for this lively presentation that gives an overview of the history of this very misunderstood holiday. Participants will learn accurate and culturally appropriate information about the English settlers at Plymouth and the Wampanoag, the Native people who inhabited that area.

Perry Ground is a Turtle Clan member of the Onondaga Nation of the Haudenosee (Iroquois) Confederacy. Perry has been a storyteller and an educator for over 25 years and enjoys working with people of all ages to teach about the history & cultures of Native Peoples.

Whether you’re an experienced quilter or just interested in learning more about this timeless craft, we welcome you to come and enjoy a relaxing and informative evening with us.

2nd Meeting of the Month: Knitting & Crocheting. Join us for a wonderful gathering of creativity and community at the Dobbs Ferry Library’s crocheting and knitting group. This is the perfect opportunity to meet and chat with fellow crafters from your community.

Whether you’re an experienced knitter or crocheter, or just starting out, all are welcome! Come share your projects, exchange ideas, and enjoy a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

Even if we’re not working on a type of crafting you’re interested in, you are welcome to come and chat and work on your own projects!

English Conversation Class in Dobbs Ferry

ADHD and Executive Function challenges impact learning, motivation, behavior, and the family system. We have learned so much in the past ten years to help ease the path for children with challenges at school and home. This presentation covers the essential strategies parents must implement to help their children survive and thrive. Learn Python with Techno Chix! In this 6-week advanced class students will build off of what they learned in the introductory class and increase their knowledge of the programming language Python. There will be more fun mini-projects each week that are designed to help learn while continuing to develop valuable skills. There will be a final project at the end of the course so participants can see how far they’ve come!
